LOS ALACRANES

Picture
Celebrating 40 years of music, Los Alacranes is one of San Diego's most well known and accomplished music groups.  Co-founders Ramon "Chunky" Sanchez and Ricardo Sanchez began their musical journey together in the small town of Blythe, California.  It was there where they played in the fields and learned about traditional Mexican ballads.

Their talent, determination, and knowledge carried the duo to San Diego, where they expanded their musical horizons by collaborating with Flaco Jimenez of the Texas Tornados and members of Los Lobos. Ricardo and Chunky started incorporating instruments such as the accordion, harmonica, upright bass, jarana, and the requinto into their own unique style of music.

Their musical sounds can be heard and appreciated around the globe, with influences ranging
from The Beatles, Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, folk, norteno, jarocho, and country western. Whether
it is the deep, raspy vocals of Chunky or the high, Soprano voice of Ricardo, music lovers
everywhere will come to remember the musical group who continue to touch the hearts of all
those who are willing to listen.
